According to USinfo.State.gov, many unfounded conspiracies continue to circulate on the internet, although these are purely based on speculation and no real evidence.

1. The World Trade Center (WTC) twin towers were destroyed by controlled demolitions.

Demolition is done from the bottom of the buildings. In this case, the WTC buildings collapsed from the upper levels down. None of the seismographs operating at other sites in Manhattan on September 11 didn’t detect any explosions on the site.

2. No airplane hit the Pentagon, but a missile fired by people inside the government body.

Apparently, the remains of the  victims were found on the site, their DNA being identified. The flight’s black box was also recovered.

3.  The planes that hit the World Trade Center towers were remotely controlled.

Boeing issued a statement according to which its planes can be controlled only from the flight deck of the aircraft.

4. Flight 93 of the United Airlines was shot down by a missile.

According to the voice recorded on the plane, the passengers’ revolt caused the hijackers to crash the plane. There was no authorization given to shoot down the plane.

5.  World Trade Center building 7 was destroyed by a controlled demolition. 

Many think that the owner of this building gave orders to demolish it.  However, seismographs recorded no spikes that suggest the use of explosives.

6. Insider trading is evidence of some knowing the plot of the incident.

The commission that looked into the incident said that there was indeed trading involved, stating “much of the seemingly suspicious trading in American [Airlines stock] on September 10 was traced to a specific U.S.-based options trading newsletter, faxed to its subscribers on Sunday, September 9, which recommended these trades.”

7. 4,000 Jews didn’t come at work of the terrorist attack.

Apparently, this was an interpretation of the Israeli Foreign Ministry’s statement, that believed that 4,000 Israeli were in the area when the attack occurred.

8. Al Qaida is not responsible for the attack.

Osama Bin Laden and the members  of his organization confirmed they were responsible for the attacks. In a recording, he stated “I was responsible for entrusting the 19 brothers … with those raids ….”
