Is Elvis Alive?

Elvis PresleyIs he? That is the question that many of his fans still pose, after 30 years have passed from his death. The fascination for this started with an article in an Associated Press article, from August 13th 1978. Here singer and songwriter Ronnie McDowell said, “Sometimes I wonder if he (Elvis) really is dead. I wonder if maybe he just wanted to be free to walk around.” And then a year later, in a June 25th 1979 People Magazine Interview, country singer Merle Haggard voiced his opinion that Elvis death could have been a hoax - “It would be the first chance for freedom in his entire life, and it could have been a scheme Colonel Parker dreamed up.

Elvis Presley died on 16 August 1977 at his home Graceland in Memphis. His body was found by is girlfriend, Ginger Alden in Elvis body in the bathroom. He was 42. He had been on the toilet, but fallen off onto the floor, where he lay in a pool of his own vomit. An ambulance rushed him to the Baptist Memorial Hospital but all attempts to revive him were in vain.

He was pronounced clinically dead at on the steps of the Baptist Hospital, Memphis. Dr Jerry Francisco, chief medical examiner of Shelby County conducted the three-hour autopsy on Elvis upon Vernon Presley’s request. Dr Francisco ruled Elvis died as a result of coronary arrhythmia. Most of Elvis’ many health problems can and have been traced back to rampant abuse of prescription drugs.

Just after his death, on 16th August 1977, a man calling himself ‘John Burrows’ who bore a startling resemblance to Elvis, was seen buying tickets to Buenos Aires. Elvis had often used this pseudonym when traveling, including on one trip to the FBI in Washington DC when he’d offered to inform on other celebrities’ illegal behavior. There have been many documented sightings of Elvis over the years.

Furthermore, the pictures taken of the star’s body do not resemble the star at all, according to the fans. Elvis’s name Kingtinuedis misspelled on the tomb, probably a sign that Vernon Presley knew that it was not his son in the tomb. In 2002, an independent label released a CD entitled Kingtinued featuring Elvis’ voice singing at least fourteen well known songs which were not written and did not exist prior to August 16th, 1977.
